On The Job For Victory - Unreal Engine 5

“On The Job For Victory” was made as a graduation group project for Howest International University of Applied Sciences.

It features a locomotive traveling through various environments highlighting the false hopes of work life in the city. The music was composed by Pieter De Vos. The environments are mostly comprised of photo scanned assets from Quixel Megascans.

This project was made entirely in the Beta Version of Unreal Engine 5. We wanted to explore how the new Nanite and Lumen features in UE5 can help to make the software relevant for a realistic film project. Although none of these environments are optimized to run in realtime, the tools in the engine allowed us to work way faster and more iteratively than we could have in a conventional film pipeline. To make up for some of the limitations of the current beta version, we composited the shots to make them more realistic and fix any problems we couldn’t resolve in Engine.
